A new rule has been entered on the Federation level effective with the 2009-2010 running season and the 2010 State Show.  This rule was adopted at the April 19, 2009 Federation meeting as follows:

" A rider cannot qualify to ride in both Pony and 1-12 classes in the same event.  However, he/she can switch back and forth between classes in different events. "

As a result of this change, the Judged Events will have a change in Pony Pleasure
and 1-12 Pleasure to clarify Western and English.

A timed event rider MUST designate at the first point show which event points should be counted on a Pony or a Horse.  This change is designed to help riders transition from pony to horse.

When Rider's list are turned in to the Points Keeper - the designation needs to be clear as it cannot be changed throughout the running year.

Helpful explanation on changes in Racking Classes
for the 2009-2010 Season and 2010 State Show

There are still 6 classes in this order:
   Youth and Adult Style Racking
   Youth and Adult Flatshod Racking
Youth and Adult Country Pleasure Racking

In the Country Pleasure classes there are the three gaits as well as a backing requirement, usually at the end of the class in line up.  No pads are allowed, light shod or bands may be used.  Western or English attire may be used but no combination of both on any one horse.  Here are the rules from our governing organization:  RHBAA

These are the actual rules per the Racking Horse Breeders Association which governs the racking portion of our show.
  The Country Pleasure Horse shall be shown with a light rein;
both horse and rider must be relaxed and comfortable.
He shall not be required to maintain a high head but should be alert in the bridle.
He shall not be required to maintain a high front leg lift, but should exhibit a smooth stride behind.
The Country Pleasure Horse will be required to perform three gaits:
        (1)  Country Pleasure Show Walk
        (2)  Country Pleasure Slow Rack
        (3)  Country Pleasure Fast Rack
The Country Pleasure horse shall stand quietly and must back readily.
The tack and dress for Country Pleasure may be either English or Western
but not a combination of both.
Use of a cavesson is permitted in the Country Pleasure Division.
